Preparations continue for Saturday's green fair
Residents across Haringey have continued to prepare for the Better Haringey Green Fair, which takes place this Saturday (13 June).
Along with the help of the local council, residents have been helping Haringey to become greener, cleaner and tidier as part of the London-wide Capital Clean-up campaign.
The campaign encourages communities to take an active role in improving the local environment through coordinated clean-up events, and seeks to raise awareness on issues affecting London’s environment through activities ranging from litter picks to habitat restoration.
Some of the recent local events have included: a neighbourhood greening event at Shepherds Hill Gardens, N6 which was held Tuesday 2 June, and pupils from St. Michael’s School in Highgate building bird boxes to help with the conservation of wildlife in the area.
Councillor Brian Haley, cabinet member for environment and conservation, said: “It’s great to see residents getting involved and helping to make Haringey an even more attractive place to live and work.
“I’m looking forward to rewarding community effort like this as part of the Better Haringey awards, which will be presented at the Green Fair on Saturday 13 June in Ducketts Common.”
The Better Haringey Green Fair will run from midday to 5pm and will feature a host of live entertainment and family-friendly ‘green’ activities.
