Meet The Buyer scheme interests Haringey business

Posted by news desk in Local News, 9th February 2010, 5:05pm

Over 100 local organisations turned out to hear more about plans to offer businesses the chance to bid for contracts with Haringey Council and other local organisations, at a recent meeting.

Representatives from the council's ‘tier one’ contractors, those who hold high-value contracts with Haringey and sub-contract to smaller companies, also offered advice and companies who have previously won council contracts shared their expertise.

Under the Meet the Buyer scheme, firms will be offered advice and support to help them tender for contracts with the council and local employers including North Middlesex Hospital, Tottenham Hotspur, Balfour Beatty Construction, Hayes Recruiting, London Waste and Lee Valley Estates.

Councillor Bob Harris, cabinet member for resources, said: "Meet the Buyer is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to learn more about how they can tap into contract opportunities with the council and other local employers.

"We are keen to do all we can to boost Haringey's economy, create local work for local firms and increase people's access to employment opportunities,” added the councillor.

The main Meet the Buyer event is to take place on Tuesday 23 February at the Decorium, Western Road, Wood Green.
